Homeschool Wrap Up Week 9

Our week got off to a bit of a rocky start.  Before 9 am Monday morning I had one that was injured, one that had been stung by a wasp, one that the dog nipped while she was trying to get her ball, an inside cat that had escaped into the woods, and a dog that ended up nabbing someone's breakfast and then was sick!  We also had a few attitude issues but truly the day got better and our afternoon ended up much better than our morning!

Week 9 in Our Homeschool

P.E.-Last week I talked about how I was trying hard to be consistent starting our day with P.E., I didn't start out this week doing so well with that!  Monday Emmie started acting like she was coming down with the same thing Anthony and Lily had, and that night she was running a temp of 102.  Tuesday morning she just wanted to snuggle so we did not do any P.E. that morning.  We did get to it the other days so we completed lessons 36-38 in Family Time Fitness.

Bible: We finished lesson 4 of Grapevine Studies Old Testament Part One.

Read Aloud: We finished John Wesley.  I am not sure what we will read next but I need to decide soon!

History: Nick and Alex finished lessons 19,20, and 21 in The Mystery of History Vol IV which was the end of the first quarter.  The lessons were on The Fall of Napoleon, Simon Bolivar, and The Greek War of Independence.  They completed their worksheets, timeline figures, and memory cards, but we did not do the map this week.

Science: Nick and Alex finished the chapter on the Digestive System in Exploring Creation With Anatomy and Physiology.

My Father's World Adventures: We started a new read aloud, The Courage of Sarah Noble.  In science we did two experiments.  On Tuesday we added yeast and sugar to a bottle and put a balloon over top to see what would happen.  On Thursday we put yeast and salt in a bottle with a balloon over top to see what wold happen.  We also made bread.   In history we read about the colony of New Amsterdam. We were supposed to make butter, but I forgot to get the whipping cream.

Math: Lesson 8 of Alpha, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, and Algebra 1 completed.

Grammar/Literature/Handwriting/Writing: Christian and Anthony did daily copywork in their handwriting books (still need to get one for Lily.)  We also are going to work on a weekly writing lesson from Part 3 of IEW PAL. We completed lesson 13 in Fix It! 1 and 2.  Nick started War of the Worlds and Alex will be finishing up Stone Fox next week.

Reading/Spelling: Alex completed lesson 7 of Phonetic Zoo.  Anthony and Christian completed the word list for step 3 of AAS Level 2.  They started Lesson One of All About Reading Level 3!  Yay!  Lily finished lessons 15,16, and 17 of AAR Level One.  She is reading really well and I am so thankful!

Horizon's Preschool: Since Emmie was sick this week, I did not plan on her doing any school, but she wanted to a couple of days.  We didn't spend a lot of time, I just gave her a couple of worksheets when she asked to "do school."

Other Activities This Week:

Monday: Girls had gymnastics.

Tuesday: Stay Home Day!

Wednesday: Kid's Club.  I have to say that going to Kids Club on Wednesdays reminds me every week how thankful I am that we homeschool.

Thursday: We had a 4 H meeting at the park.

Friday: We had this cute handsome fella visiting with us,  He gets lots of attention at our house!

I found these foam notebooks at Dollar Tree and picked them up along with some foam shapes and glitter glue.  The children decorated them and we are going to use them for Nature Journals.

We also went to archery for the first time in a long time.  We got there and I didn't even know anyone there!  We have had several join from some other local homeschool groups which is a great thing!

Saturday: We carved pumpkins and made some pumpkin sugar cookies.  The children dressed up in their costumes and we went on the Trick or Treat Trail at the park.

Sunday: Alex was confirmed and joined the church!

I hope you had a great week in your homeschool!
