Homeschool Wrap Up Week 29

Happy Easter! He is risen!

Week 29 in our Homeschool

P.E: This week we started Family Time Fitness's 5 K workout, with a few modifications.  We will be doing this 2 days a week instead of three and I cut down the amount of time that we will be running (I actually always cut down our workouts a bit because they go longer then I am able to fit them in.)
The other days we will do a different type of workout.  This week it was Family Time Fitness.

Bible:  We read about Russia in Window on the World and read from Matthew 24:35 to the end of Matthew 26.

Poetry: Our poem for this week was Fog by Carl Sanburg.  This is the first poem we have memorized that does not rhyme.  My children are not fond of that.

Read Aloud: We read 4 selections from Kingdom Tales for our morning read aloud.  We are still reading Shepherd, Potter, Spy, and the Star Namer and still have a ways to go before we finish this.  For our evening read aloud we started The Search for Everyman, Book 3 in the Terrestria Chronicles.

E.C.C: We started and finished Russia.  We did the John 3:16 page, read the assigned pages in Children's Atlas of God's World, and read the facts from A Trip Around the World.  In the science portion we read about the arctic, tundra, and animals changing color.

History: We read the text for the last two stops in Passport Ancient Greece.  Next week we will finish up the timeline and the lapbook and we will be done!  We also watched two episodes of Drive Thru History, The Gospels.

Art: We did not do a formal art lesson this week, but the girls had fun using their Thin Stix (upcoming review.)

Language Arts: Lily did two lessons in Eclectic Foundations B.  Christian and Anthony did 4 lessons in Reader's in Residence.

Spelling/Reading: The boys completed Step 5 in AAS Level 4.  Lily completed lesson 24 in AAR Level 3.

Math: Nick completed lesson 30 in MUS Geometry.  Alex completed 4 lessons in Teaching Textbooks 7 and the others completed 4 lessons in MLFLE.

Nature Study: Our nature study topic this week was on the life cycle of plants.

Digital Savvy: The boys finished lesson 4.

MFW Creation from A to Z: Emmie finished the unit on Z for Zebra and started the unit on R for rock.

Other Activities this Week:

Monday we had storms so soccer was rained out, but I had a 2 hour 4 H Leader Training Meeting to attend.

Tuesday the girls had gymnastics but the fields were too wet to play soccer so it was cancelled.  Nick had youth.

Wednesday we had Kid's Club.

Thursday Chelsea had a doctor appointment.  Alex had a soccer practice and Christian had a soccer game.

Friday was a long and complicated day.  But errands got ran that needed to be ran and the children were very well behaved and helpful.  We also got our baby chicks on Friday. There is nothing cuter then brand new baby chicks! (of course in a week or so they won't be cute anymore!)

Saturday The boys worked outside helping their daddy fix the shop almost all day (there is still along way to go but baby steps) We colored some Easter eggs that night.

Sunday was Easter! Sunday school, egg hunt, and church.  During church Anthony was confirmed!

After church we ate and cleaned up so we could start making food for the 4 H cooking contest that is tomorrow.  So far we have made Oreo Pie, Ice Cream Pie, and Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.  Next up Oreo Cookie Balls.  The hot food will be made tomorrow afternoon.

I hope you had a great week!

Happy Homeschooling!
