The boys talked me into keeping the butterflies one more day. I was going to let them go yesterday, but they wanted to watch them for one more day. We had all 5 butterflies hatch, but one's wings never straightened out and it died. Then, the cat got to them this morning and killed one still in the garden. One of the butterflies went into the bug collection (Christian was not very happy about that.) We set two free this morning. They were not in a big hurry to fly away. One landed on Nick's arm and one landed on Alex's arm and just kind of sat there. I told the boys to gently put them in the grass and eventually they did fly away. Now the children want to do it all over again next week! I told them we would raise some caterpillars again, but not next week. We did order our ants and got the ant farm ready. That is the next insect project.
