Homeschool Wrap Up Week 6

We had 3 doctor's  appointments that interrupted our routine a bit this week. Monday we had two appointments.  I had to be out of the house in the morning for my doctor appointment (hoping some new medicine might get some of stomach issues back under control) and in the afternoon I had to take Nick for a vaccine that the school requires.  Monday Lily was still complaining of a lot of pain in her knee so I made her an appointment for Tuesday morning and then had to take her for an X-ray.  Since we still do not have the results of that I am assuming all is well (surely they would have gotten in touch if it wasn't.)  They did say to have her wear a brace when doing gymnastics or anything strenuous for the next little while and they want her to have a Physical Therapy evaluation to see if she needs PT to strengthen her knee.  But, she is doing much better this week-end and not complaining of any pain so I am not sure that will be necessary.

Week 6 in our Homeschool

Bible: We did several lessons in Answers for Kids Vol IV.

Read Aloud: Our morning read aloud is an upcoming review called Forensic Faith for Kids.  We read 4 chapters of it and have continued to read The Interrupted Tale for our evening read aloud along with the Felicity American Girl series.

History: We completed lesson 10 in America's Story 3 on The World at War.

Science: We picked up where we left off in Apologia's Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology.  We started reading through Chapter 6 on the Respiratory System and did the Try This activities.

Spelling/Reading: The boys finished Step 21 in AAS Level 5. Emmie started AAR Level 2.  She completed lessons 1,2, and 3.

Language Arts: Christian and Anthony did a keyword outline, rough draft, and final paragraph on starfish and then we went over a keyword outline and paragraph on pearls together.  Lily completed 4 lessons in Hake/Saxon grammar and Emmie completed 4 lessons in Language Lessons for a Living Education 2.

Math: Lily, Christian, Emmie, and Anthony completed 4 lessons in Math Lessons for a Living Education.

Art: At a homeschool co-op this week they made small clay sculptures and a butterfly wing collage.

Other Activities this Week:

Monday Nick had a robotics club meeting and started Refereeing 5 and under soccer.

Tuesday was gymnastics.  Lily sat out.  Then we had sandwiches and chips at the park.  Christian had 2 games, one at 6 and then one at 8 ( I am not going to day what I think about this year's soccer schedule but we will survive)  It felt like 106 degrees when the first game started at 6.

I went over to take a picture of Nick on the 5 and under field.  All of those children looked so small!  It doesn't seem like Nick ever was that little on the soccer field, but of course he was.  He started playing when he was 4.

Wednesday we had Kid's Club.

Thursday morning the goats decided to cause some damage to their pen that had to be repaired.  Then we had to give worm medicine (goats have to have a lot of worm medicine) and cut the new rabbit's toe nails.

That afternoon Lily had piano.  Then Emmie had dance.  When Emmie was at dance Lily and I went to the park and finished the school work she didn't get done during the day.  Then we decided to take a lap around the walking trail, nice and slow to see how her knee would feel.  We were almost back to the pavilion when the sky opened up and it started down pouring!!! The lower temperature felt really nice!

Friday we had a Geography Through Art co-op on Africa and made clay sculptures and butterfly wing collages.

Saturday was a rainy fallish day.  Lots of laundry was done, some camper cleaning to get ready for our stay next week at District Fair, and I went over all of Nick and Alex's school work to see where they are at so far.  I also signed Nick up to take the October ACT.

I hope you had a great week!

Happy Homeschooling!
