Homeschool Wrap Up Week 23

We had beautiful springlike weather this week and spent a lot of time outside!  Thursday we started the day outside so we could be out before the rain came, but then when the rain came it didn't last long enough to matter and we were able to get out again later in the afternoon.  I love spring when everything starts growing and we have baby animals to enjoy!

4 H has been putting together kits and activities that can be done at home.  In February the kit was items to make Valentines and then those Valentines were taken to local nursing homes.  Our first March kit was on gardening.  It contained information to be read, activity sheets and recipes, seed packets, soil, and little planters to plant them in, along with a window greenhouse to view a lima bean seed.  It also had grafting clips (we have never grafted a plant before and are going to try this in a few weeks) and information on soil testing. We planted two types of tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, jalapeno peppers, zinnias, and nasturtium.

Week 23 in our Homeschool

Bible: We are reading the Old Testament from the Storybook Bible and the Psalms.

History: Our lessons in MOH Vol 2 covered St Francis of Assisi, The Childrens Crusade and King John and the Magna Carta.

Geography: We learned about Kansas and Nebraska.

Latin: We started lesson 15 but did not finish the translation for the lesson.  We usually do those on Thursdays and thats the day we went out to plant the seeds.  The children did not remind me later that we hadn't finished our latin lesson and I did not remember until the next day.

Language Arts: Emmie is still working on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  The boys are working on a research paper on St. Patricks Day and finishing up Tom Sawyer.  Lily is finishing up Heidi.  I have ordered Lily's next book: Lassie Comes Home and the boys' As You Like It.

Math: Independent Work

Science: Independent Work

Some photos of our week:

Aunt Emmie decided she was in charge of lunch and made everyone PBJ and strawberries.

Alex got to shoot in his first Trap Tournament since 2019!  So glad they are able to shoot this year!

I hope you had a great week!

Happy Homeschooling!

The pictures have me hungry to get outside and see a little sun. But our sun has been hiding for 7 straight days and isn't supposed to reappear for about 10 more. :( I'll enjoy it vicariously through your pix. :)

PB&J and strawberries sounds perfect!

And those 4-H kits sound amazing! How fun to have so many supplies and such educational/service activities!! I have tried several times to figure out how to get involved in 4-H in our area--we're supposed to have a really active group around here--but I fail every time.

I wish you well as you work to organize your rooms! I totally get the work involved. It's never simple, is it?
