Our goat babies are doing well. We still have to go out several times a day to hold the mama goat's head so the white baby can eat, but both goats are growing and playing and seem to be healthy. The goat pasture is finished so 2 of our goats get to spend their days out there. The rooster who viciously attacked me on Saturday and should've been shot is also in the pasture along with two hens we decided to free range. Our baby chicks moved out of their brooding box into a small chicken pen and in a few weeks they will move into a bigger chicken pen.
Week 35 in our Homeschool
Bible: We read 4 chapters in the book of Mark.
Read Aloud: We finished Badge of Honor but cant find Tunnel of Gold and I can't remember if I loaned it to someone or it just is floating around here somewhere. I'm thinking I loaned it because I had to buy Badge of Honor again because someone borrowed and didn't return it so it may be they borrowed both. We started DragonFire.
Science: We did a lot of science this week. We finished lesson 13 in Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy. We did several lessons in Super Charged Science on fungi and protozoans. The boys also finished the lesson on Charles Babbage in Famous Inventors Online Unit Study.
History: We read through three lessons in The Mystery of History Vol 1. We also watched an episode of Drive Thru History Acts to Revelation one very, very rainy day.
Individual School
Emmie started two new things this week. She completed lessons 1 and 2 in Memoria Press's Simply Classical Spelling Book One. She also started Lightning Literature 2. Her first story was Max's Words. She answered comprehension questions orally, completed the workbook pages on alphabetizing words and making sentences out of phrases, and dictated a story to me about a girl named Susan and her brown dog that stole her plate of bacon. She also did 4 lessons in Singapore Math and two lessons in All About Reading Level 2.
Lily finished 4 lessons in Math Lessons for a Living Education, worked on Typing Tournament every day and is working on getting all of her pages finished for Little House in the Big Woods.
Christian and Anthony finished Step 20 in AAS Level 6, and 4 days of Math. Anthony worked on Spelling Tutor each day and Christian did some Math Invaders in EdAlive.
Other Activities this Week
Tuesday was B Day (bait casting, BB Shooting, Bicycles, and this year they added Bows.) It was a long afternoon but the children had fun. Christian (junior) won 2nd in BB Shooting and 3rd in Bait Casting, Bicycles, and Bows. Lily (junior) won 1st in bicycles and participated in bows. Anthony (junior) participated in Bicycles. Emmie (cloverbud) won 1st in bicycles and participated in Bows. Nick (senior) won 1st in BB Shooting and 3rd in Bows. Alex (senior) won 1st in Bait Casting and Bows and 3rd in BB Shooting. Alex will complete in Bait Casting at the District Competition in June and Nick will compete in BB Shooting. Lily will compete in Instrumental and Anthony and Christian in Technology Showcase.
Wednesday afternoon (the very, very rainy day compared to the other just rainy days we had this week!) I took the children to an art show showcasing artwork from school children from grades K-12 in Nashville.
Thursday the girls had music lessons. Afterwards Lily went to a sewing workshop and made a fish laundry bag. Emmie had dance. It was parent watch day and costume try on day but I didn't get to see the ballet dance because I dropped her off and had to go back to the sewing workshop. But we did make it back to watch the tap dance and see the finale.
Friday morning we helped get ready for the music recital and then did our shopping. That evening was the recital. The girls did great! Lily played a song on piano called The Horseman's Night Ride and then Emmie played Mandolin while Lily played key board on He's Got the Whole World in His Hands.
I hope you had a great week!
Happy Homeschooling!

So many fun shows and performances! Congrats to all performers!!! And I nearly snorted with laughter over the rooster that should have been shot. Here's wishing you safety from him! I totally get how awful rooster attacks can be, but reading about from a safe place at home is pretty funny! My Ladybug is doing Simply Classical Spelling Book 1, too. She's not retaining much of what she learns, but that's not the fault of the book. And she's having success at spelling in isolation, so I hope that lends itself to spelling success in real life eventually. I like that the lists are short and clean and that concepts are repeated somewhat cyclically, so she can practice "silent e" words one week and then 5 or 6 weeks later again.
