Homeschool Wrap Up Week 13

Cold weather makes me want to cook warm foods so this afternoon I made cinnamon roll cake, vegetable beef soup, and homemade bread. Hopefully it all tastes as good as it smells.

Week 13 in our Homeschool

P.E.: We did one day of yoga (Liam did not know what to think of that!) We also did one day of Family Time Fitness.  Tuesday was so pretty outside that we skipped our usual P.E. and delayed our morning school work so we could spend the morning outside.

Bible: We did 3 lessons in Bible Study Guide for All Ages.

Read Aloud: We read 4 chapters of Ronald Reagan in the morning.  We have read through 3 chapters of The Long Lost Home before bed (it takes two days to read one chapter) and we finished Lady Margaret's Ghost (AG Mystery) and are about half finished with The Secret Garden.

History: We finished lesson 18 in America's Story on The Civil Rights Movement.

Science: We finished reading chapter 8 on the Cardiovascular System, diagrammed a model of the heart and made a homemade stethoscope.  We have some notebook activities to finish up next week.

Music Appreciation: We completed chapter 18 in Music Appreciation I on Meditation from Thais by Jules Massenet.

Spelling/Reading: Christian and Anthony finished Level 5 of AAS.  Emmie is working on lesson 19 in AAS Level 2.  She is struggling with words with long vowel sounds that start with a blend so we will be working a bit more on that before moving on.

Language Arts: The boys wrote key word outlines and paragraphs on Camp Life and started reading the book Carry On Mr. Bowditch.  Lily and Emmie completed 4 lessons in their grammar books.  I would like to start a literature study on Little House in the Big Woods for Lily using The Prairie Primer but it seems I  loaned it to someone awhile back and need to see if I can get a hold of it.

Math: Anthony finished MLFLE 6 and I have ordered Rod and Staff 7.  Hoping that will be a good fit for him.  The other children completed 4 lessons in MLFLE.

Other Activities this Week:

Monday was a stay at home day.

Tuesday the girls had gymnastics.

Wednesday Liam tripped over his diaper bag while running from his aunt and went face first into the rocking chair.  He hurt his mouth and his nose but luckily not seriously.  That baby is tough!

At Kid's Club our lesson was on Jonah.  Alex played Jonah and almost didn't fit into the whale!

Thursday we had piano and dance, and Art and I escaped for an hour after dance and had dinner here in town just the two of us.

Friday we had a STEM 4 H meeting.  We made and raced balloon powered cars.

My big boys went to the high school football game dressed in many layers.

Saturday morning was opening day of modern gun for deer season.  Alex got a little buck.  Christian did not get anything.
We packed our OCC boxes.  Did not get a picture of Emmie.

Sunday morning early Art got a big buck.  Meet for the freezer!

One more week of school and then a week off for Thanksgiving.

I hope you had a great week!

Happy Homeschooling!
