Homeschool Wrap Up Week 32

Liam is cutting another tooth and is really enjoying popsicles.

We took a day off Monday. We went to Texarkana, met some friends and went bowling using our Kids Bowl Free coupons (all except Nick who is now too old, I had to pay for him.)  We spent around 2 hours at the bowling alley and then went to McAlister's Deli for lunch with our friends.  After lunch I took the children to see the new Avengers movie (I will refrain from commenting on what I thought of the movie.)  It was a long one, we were in the theater over 2.5 hours.  After we made the long drive back and then I had to attend 2hours of 4 H leader training.  It was a long day, but a good one.

Tuesday the girls had gymnastics.

Wednesday it felt very strange to be at home!  We planted the garden.  We planted 2 kinds of squash, cantaloupe, watermelon, eggplant, pumpkins, and 3 kinds of tomatoes.

Thursday Lily had piano.

Friday we ran errands and went shopping.

Saturday we stayed home.  The studio that the girls had started dancing at had their show, but the instructor had decided that the ballet students did not have enough experience to be ready to dance on stage.  I went back and forth about whether I should take them to watch or not and then just decided it was better to stay home.  We moved our baby chickens out of the box and put them in one of the small chicken pens.  They will move to a bigger pen in a few weeks.  I also added some mulch to our flower bed.

We accomplished quite a bit in our homeschool this week, even with a short week.

Week 32 in our Homeschool

Bible: We finished Vol 2 and started Volume 3 of Answers for Kids.

History: This week in America's Story we read chapters 13-17 going from the Industry Boom through Thomas Edison.

Music Appreciation: We completed chapter 10 on Beethoven, Pastoral Symphony, and programmatic music.

Science: We finished up Chapter 4 on the digestive system by completing the notebooking exercises.

Art: We completed the first lesson in ARTistic Pursuits brand new Art of the Middle Ages book geared for grades K-3.  We did the first project on weaving.

Math: They completed 3 lessons in MLFLE.

Language Arts: I started Emmie on Homeschool Navigator's Red level.  Our lessons this week were on circular stories.  We read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and If You Give a Moose a Muffin.  Lily's lessons were on Adelita.  Anthony and Christian started the book study for The Invention of Hugo Cabret.

Spelling/Reading: The boys completed Step 16 of AAS Level 5.  Emmie completed lessons 50 and 51.

I need to sit down with Nick this week to see how much he has left to finish before we consider 10th grade complete.  Alex has finished all of his history but still has science, language arts, and math.  he will not finish UnLock Math before our subscription ends so I think he he will finish up Pre-Algebra with Math U See over the summer.

I hope you had a great week!

Happy Homeschooling!
