It is a new month, so we are learning about a new artist in art class. This month's artist is Georgia O' Keeffe. Georgia O' Keeffe was born in America in 1887 and died in 1986. She always dreamed of being an artist. She liked to paint all kinds of flowers, and paint them really big. She also painted landscapes.
We were a small class today because one family was sick and others were out of town. Our first project in art class was to draw a flower that took up almost the whole sheet of paper. After drawing the flower, the children outlined them in black marker and then colored them with 3 different primary colors.
After they finished that project, they did a watercolor painting of the flowers they just drew.
The third project was a drawing. The children got to pick their favorite artist that we have studied so far: Picasso, Matisse, and O' Keeffe and draw a picture based on one of those artists. I did not take any pictures of those drawings as I was helping to clean up. I was really impressed though with the drawings the children came up with.
Another great art class!
