We had some pretty weather this week, sunny and middle temperatures. Lots of leaves falling everywhere. The darkness coming early changes our outdoor feeding schedule a bit. We have no lights in our little barn so now that the days are shorter, goats get fed and put up out of the pasture earlier. We put them in the barn every night. Our rabbits are outside under the leanto. Every night we cover one side of the cage with the baby bunnies in it to keep them a little more protected from the night time chill, but now that they are very mobile and adventurous they make their way into the little house in the cage and bury themselves in the hay. They are growing very well! Watching them grow and develop has been a great fall science experience. They will be three weeks old tomorrow.
Week 11 in our Homeschool
Bible: We finished 1 and 2 Thessalonians and started 1 Timothy.
Read Aloud: We finished the biography on George Washington Carver. What an amazing man!! We learned so much by reading this book. I found a documentary on Youtube that we are going to try and watch next week if our internet decides to cooperate.
In the evening we finished Little House in the Big Woods and started Little House on the Prairie. We started the 8th book in The Hardy Boys series. A few years ago, we were very blessed when someone from our church gave us almost the entire series! Alex read all of the ones we were given and we have picked up a few that we didn't have and now Anthony and Christian (and the girls) are able to enjoy them as well. I loved the Nancy Drew series when I was young and would like to see if I can pick up a few of those to see if the girls would like them.
History: We completed lessons 28-30 in MOH Vol 2 on The Sui Dynasty, Mohammed, and the spread of Islam.
Geography: We learned about Pennsylvania and read a few chapters in The Cabin Faced West.
Latin: We completed lesson 8 in Visual Latin on numbers 1-10.
Art History: We watched a video on Michelangelo.
Language Arts: Emmie's lessons for this week focuses on poetry. Lily finished Love that Dog and started The Borrowers. Christian and Anthony wrote compare and contrast paragraphs and read 4 chapters of Treasure Island.
Spelling/Reading: Emmie completed Step 6 in AAS Level 2. She practices spelling her words using the All About Learning app on the iPad. She read Beware of the Gnu in AAS Level 4. The boys completed Step 22 in AAS Level 7 on words with Greek roots.
I love this picture! Willow loves her uncle Alex. She gets so exited when she sees him. She just had to climb up in his lap and "help" him with is math when he came in to do some work. (we did not leave her in his lap because he did have to get some work done, after a few minutes Lily and I distracted her with some blocks on the floor.)
And then Spider man paid us a visit! But don't worry, it's just me Mimi!
Other Activities this Week
Monday was gymastics and Tuesday dance.
Friday the girls played handbells and piano.
Nicholas came home this week-end with his thumb all taped up. He hurt it playing some soccer at school. He did not go see the nurse or get x-rays. He took some motrin and taped it up. He thought it was broken. He told me he is adulting and handled it all just fine without me.
I hope you had a great week!
Happy Homeschooling!
You gotta love a kid who breaks his thumb but tapes it up and goes on!
ReplyDeleteThe baby bunnies are soooooooooo cute! I want to hug them.
It is such a blessing to have little ones "helping" with math and other activities. Your grandbabies are absolutely darling.
