Monday we had B-Day followed by the Talks, Talent, and Fashion Revue competition. All of the children participated in B-Day and Lily played the piano for the Talent competition.
Tuesday the girls had gymnastics.
Wednesday at Kid's Club our lesson was on Elisha and the widow.
Thursday Lily had piano, but ballet was cancelled again.
Friday was the 4 H Achievement Banquet. Emmie was a greeter. Christian and Lily handed out awards and Christian gave a speech on Forestry and Wildlife Camp. Nick, Alex, Anthony, and Christian won County and District Awards for their record books and Alex won County Champion. Lily and Emmie won Cloverbud Awards.
The day of the banquet we were under some different types of severe weather alerts. Usually at the formal banquets some 4 hers from another county come to serve the food but they could not come because of the weather so some of us moms served instead. Shortly after we started serving food, the tornado sirens went off. Some chose to go to the storm shelter across the street and the rest of us stayed. The warning ended up being north of us so we carried on. Towards the end of the banquet more warnings and alerts were going off. The worst part of the storm held off until we got home. There were not any more tornado warnings but we did have severe thunderstorm warnings and the girls camped out on our bedroom floor. Lily used to be completely terrified of storms. It isn't as bad as it used to be but they still scare her. The storms finally quit just after 11:30.
Saturday Christian worked in the shop with his dad to fix the go cart. They had not ridden in it since last fall and it needed some repairs. They got it all finished and he drove it for awhile. Lily asked if she could try driving it. So off they went. Somehow, she ended up getting her pedals a bit confused and pushed on the gas, hard... She went through the front yard (where they are not supposed to ride) went through the landscaping timbers around that part of the yard, went airborne across the driveway and landed in the field. Thankfully they were not hurt. The go cart will need more repairs before it can be ridden in again.
Our baby chickens are doing well. No fatalities and they are bright eyed and healthy. Growing their feathers and have started to fly up to the roost in their box.
