Homeschool Wrap Up Week 34

When I was feeling so awful at the beginning of last week with a sore throat, stuffy nose, and headache I thought it was just allergies.  I even I had made it all the way through fall and winter without being sick and now the pollen was trying to kill me.  But, it has been systematically making its way through my house one at a time so I think it is some kind of virus.  Art even stayed home from work one day and Anthony ran low grade fever for a day and a half.  He was the only one who ran fever and he felt bad the longest.  So he took a few days off of school, you can't think very well when you have a headache.  We also missed some afternoon work when our goat babies were born this week, but that was a very cool educational experience!

Bible: Since we finished what we were using for Bible study last week, we started reading from the gospel of Mark (we did Matthew a short time ago) and read the first 4 chapters.

Read Aloud: I have not started a new morning read aloud.  In the evening we are still reading through Badge of Honor by Susan K. Marlow and finished DragonKnight by Danita K. Paul.

History: Back to The Mystery of History Vol 1!  We did a review of quarter 1 and read through the first three lessons in Quarter 2.

Poetry: We started working on Try, Try, Again by William Hickson.

Art: They made animal reliefs out of clay.

Science: We did a lot of science this week.  We finished reading through Apologia Anatomy's chapter on the lymphatic system and are currently growing some bateria in petri dishes.  The boys completed a lesson in Techie Homeschool Mom on James Watts.  We are working on some lessons on plants in Super Charged Science.  We did a lesson called Einstein's Garden and Emmie planted a plant and is weighing it to see it gain weight from the energy from the sun.

Individual School

Emmie started a lesson on Economics from Homeschool Complete.  The book she was supposed to read was The Ox Cart Man.  She listened to it on Youtube since we do not have it and completed some money worksheets, a worksheet on a parable, and one on similies.  She completed 4 days of Singapore Dimensions Math and read Pumpkin and the Kitten in All About Reading Level 2.

Lily completed 4 days of Math in Math Lessons for a Living Education, read a chapter in Little House in the Big Woods and worked on Typing Tournament.

Anthony and Christian watched the IEW video ( I can't remember which lesson number) and did key word outlines for something in their brains that they knew a lot about.  Anthony did not write his paper, but Christian wrote his on goats.  They did two days of math.  Anthony did one day of Dyslexia Gold. They started step 20 in AAS Level 6 but didn't finish it.

Other Activities this Week

Monday the girls had music lessons and we did some final water tests on the ROV.  We finished the Engineering Notebook and submitted it for the International Competition.  It's getting closer!

Tuesday We had Liam all day.  He loves to be outside and help with the animal chores.

Wednesday we had goat babies!  It was really cool that we could be there and watch them be born.  We are spending a lot of time out there taking care of the baby they named Sugar.  We are not planning on keeping him.  If we can get him to grow well enough one of the boys will show him and then he will be sold.  Frank Jr. we will keep to breed with our other does.

Thursday Alex went and competed in the District 4 H Broiler BBQ for the first time.  He won 4th in the district!

He has been getting up in the middle of the night to take the 3 o clock feeding of the baby goat.

Emmie had dance.  Her recital is in 4 weeks.

Friday we had Liam again.  He was so excited about the baby goats!

We were home Friday night for the first time in about a month. It was so nice to stay home and watch our Friday night movie.

Anthony's fever had broke Friday morning.  So Saturday we went and saw Endgame.  Nick had seen it the weekend before with friends so he stayed home to make sure the goat got fed.  It is an hour and 2o minutes drive for us one way plus the 3 hour movie time so we were gone all day.  I didn't love the movie but I didn't like Infinity War either.  The children enjoyed it.

I hope you had a great week!

Happy Homeschooling!
