Review: Courageous Love by Susan K. Marlow

Susan K. Marlow writes wholesome books for children that are full of adventure, faith, and fun.  Her main series of books follows the main character of Andrea Carter and her many adventures in the late 1800's on the Circle C Ranch.  These books are split up into 4 different age groups. Written for 6-9 year olds Circle C Beginnings follows 6-8 year old Andi.  Written for 7-10  Circle C Stepping Stones features 9 year old Andi.  Circle C Adventures was written for 9-12 year olds and features 12 year old Andi and Circle C Milestones was written for ages 12 and up and is about 14-18 year old Andi.

Courageous Love is the 4th book in the Circle C Milestones series.  Andrea has started helping run the Circle C and is learning how to do stunts on her horse Shasta, with the help of her friend and ranch employee, Riley Prescott.  When Andi and Riley discover a cut fence it begins a series of troubles for the Carter family.  A brick thrown through a window at a family party has a strange warning and then cattle begin to die. Evidence leads to some criminals that her brother Justin sent to jail.  Can they find those responsible before something else terrible happens?

We love Susan K. Marlow's books!  My younger daughters (6 and 8) are reading the Circle C Beginnings and Circle C Stepping Stones.  My boys and girls love the Goldtown Adventures (we wish there were more of them!) and I have greatly enjoyed the books in the Circle C Milestones series.

These are books that grow with your children.  Each of the different series deals with problems and situations that your children can relate to and learn from.  You do not have to read all of the different series in order to enjoy these books.  Each one stands alone so if you have an older daughter who has not read the younger ages, that's ok.  She can jump in at the appropriate age group.

So often I worry about what kind of content will come sneaking in to the books my children are reading but there is no need to have any worries reading these books. I have enjoyed "watching" Andrea grow through these stories.  I was excited to see familiar characters from Goldtown Adventures showed up in Courageous Love.  I loved the story and couldn't put it down.  It is a great blend of adventure, mystery, faith, and romance. I thought the ending was wonderful!

I highly recommend all of the books by Susan K. Marlow!
