Schoohouse Crew Review: FishFlix

FishFlix.com Review no 2
Earlier this year we found out about a company called FishFlix.com that carries Christian movies and TV programs to entertain, inspire, and educate.  We really enjoyed  Torchlighters: The John Wesley story that we had an opportunity to review back in May so I was excited to have an opportunity to review another DVD from FishFlix.com, When Calls the Heart, Heart of the Family.
FishFlix.com Review no 2

When Calls the Heart is a series from the Hallmark Channel inspired by the novel When Comes the Heart by Janette Oke.  The series is produced by Michael Landon Jr.  It stars Erin Krakow from Army Wives , Lori Loughlin from Full House, Jack Wagner, and Daniel Lissing from Eye Candy.  In this series, Elizabeth Thatcher who is used to high society life takes her first classroom assignment in a small coal mining town in 1910 in western Canada.  Jack Thorton is a constable and Abigail Stanton is a widow who lost both her husband and her son in a coal mining accident.

When Calls the Heart Heart of the Family is the 3rd film in the second season of the series.  It is 88 minutes long and includes behind the scenes interviews.  In this DVD, Elizabeth returns to Hope Valley after visiting family and offers to help a neighbor out by watching his rural homestead along with his two children while he has to be away.  This proves out to be a bigger task than she originally thought butJack offers to lend a hand and they spend some quality time together.  In the meantime, Bill Avery is trying to bust up a counterfeiting ring that leads him back to Hope Valley but he does not want any interference from Jack. Elizabeth ends up being very surprised to see a former suitor standing in the middle of her schoolhouse who seems interested in rekindling their romance.

I had heard of this series before but has never watched any part of it.  That did make it difficult because with this DVD I jumped into the second season and only knew a little of the background story of the series and not much about the characters at all.  When Calls the Heart had a bit of adventure and a lot of romance.  It features several strong female characters who are making a life on their own.  The romance is very sweet and there was nothing at all inappropriate.  I  think this series would appeal more to teenage girls and women than younger audiences and men.  The DVD is not like a movie at all, but rather part of the series and it does end on a cliffhanger. I did enjoy it and would watch more in the future.
