About the Author
"Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents, Stan and Jan, working together to write and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too."
I have two little girls who have enjoyed the Berenstain Bears books and who love to cook so I thought this would be a great little cook book for them. This hard cover 96 page books contains 10 recipes in 4 different categories: Breakfast, Lunch, Main Dishes, and Desserts and Snacks for a total of 40 recipes. It is also illustrated with cute Berenstain Bears and has a story lead in to each section. Some of the recipes are really easy for children to do with minimum help like banana pops, mini pizzas, crustless tuna sandwiches, and banana and peanut butter sandwiches. Others like Bear-y Delicious Scones, Race Car Cookies, Skillet Fried Potatoes, Panda Cupcakes, and Turkey Shaped Sandwiches are just really cute for kids. Some of the recipes though would be harder for children to make or help with, mostly in the main dish category. I did think that a "recipe" for corn on the cob could have been left out and replaced with something that really required a recipe. But, overall it is a really sweet cookbook that any fan of Berenstain Bears will enjoy.
