Planting the Garden...Finally!

Last year was the first year we had a garden.  We really enjoyed it and wanted to plant another one this year.  But, we had a broken tractor that Art had to rebuild and then our tiller was broken too so we had to order parts and he had to fix that.  Then he had weeks of mowing to do.  We finally got the garden tilled and we had rain for several days in a row.  Then I had fire ants in the garden that I had to take care of.  But, we finally made it to the green house yesterday and picked up some plants.  Nick and Alex did the rows last night and we planted this morning.  The children loved planting the garden!  We put in watermelon, squash, cucumber, eggplant, green pepper, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and a sweet potato vine.  We had planted some pumpkin in containers several weeks ago that has started to flower so we added that as well.  And of course we had to add some flowers.  The children picked out marigolds, zinnias, and lantanas since ours did not make it through the winter last year.

I hope something grows!
