October Nature Seekers Cloverbud 4 H Meeting

For our October meeting, I had a parent volunteer to do the meeting AND bring the snack Whoohoo!  I will never say no to parent help!  She decided we would do a fall scavenger hunt and nature craft, so we held the meeting at a pavilion in our City Park.  It was a beautiful fall day to be at the park!!

The first thing we did after our pledges and introductions (we had some new children join us) was to discuss our next meeting.  Then we took care of our Community Service project.  We decided to do some boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  I was hoping to fill 2 boxes, one for a boy and one for a girl, and asked each child to bring one or two things for a boy or girl box and $1 per child to go towards shipping the boxes.  My club exceeded my expectations and we filled 4 boxes!!!  I was so proud of them!

We are going to make some fabric liners to place inside of the boxes instead of wrapping paper.  Next we did the scavenger hunt.  The children were given a list and a paper sack.  They had to put each item on the list inside their paper sack.  Those that couldn't read were  paired with someone who could.  After they had everything they returned to the pavilion.

Next they got to learn about each item that was found.

Then the children created a nature craft using the items in their bags, and decorating them with glitter.

It was a great meeting!  We will not meet in November because of Thanksgiving and then Christmas and so many activities going on.  Instead we will meet early December and go back to our regular meeting schedule in January.
