CSI Workshop at Mid America Science Museum

Mid America Museum has started offering workshops once a month for homeschoolers.  They offer them in two different age ranges; 8-12 , and 12-16 and each workshop lasts 2 hours.  The cost varies, although if you are museum members you get a discount.  Yesterday was the first time we have been able to participate in a workshop.  Nick, Alex, and a friend signed up for a CSI Workshop.  You can just drop kids off and leave, but since we live so far away, and have museum passes, we just brought a lunch and planned on staying for several hours.

Parents are not aloud in the workshop, but we could see them in their classroom, so I got one picture.

"Crime Scene Investigators use science to crack the case! Learn how to study fingerprints, test for secret messages and decipher other clues left at the scene of the crime! " They learned about (and made their own finger prints), tested different substances with chemicals to figure out what they were, learned about DNA  did a DNA experiment using saliva, and did some tests on secret messages.  They had a great time!  I hope we have an opportunity to sign up for more workshops next fall.

While they were in their workshop, the rest of us played in the museum.  This was our 4th time going since we bought the passes in September, and the children love to go!  They always find fun and interesting things to do.  We were there for 4 hours, and I still had to hurry them out the door.
