Homeschool Wrap Up Week 18

After two weeks off for Christmas break, we eased back into some schoolwork this week.  Our break was nice and we enjoyed a little bit relaxation.  Chelsea and her family were able to spend Christmas with us.  We also went to the new Star Wars movie right before New Year's.  The girls were able to attend a Wild About Winter program at Grandview and had a good time.

This week my birthday was Monday so we took off of school that day.  Normally I would not do that but we hadn't seen Chelsea and the babies since Christmas and they wanted to come out and spend the day.  My children didn't mind getting an extra day off :)  By Thursday a very stressful situation I have been dealing with got the better of me and I had a horrible migraine.  The children were able to complete some individual work and I gave an art assignment and a science assignment they could do on their own but the other planned work I had required me to read and that was not possible so the day didn't go as planned but we made it through.

Homeschool Wrap Up Week 18

Bible: We have started reading in the book of Acts.

Read Aloud: We are reading Dangerous Decision by Susan K. Marlow and The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien.

History: We completed lessons 79, 80, and 81 in The Mystery of History Vol 1.

Art: For Art History we watched a HiGasfy video on Vincent van Gogh.  Christian and Lily did a drawing lesson from Creating a Masterpiece.  Anthony worked on a wood burning project.

Writing Assignments: We worked on a paragraph about one new skill they would like to learn this year.

Science:  We read the first half of chapter 4 in Botany and the children built some models of flowers out of clay and construction paper.

Emmie completed 2 lessons in AAR Level 3.  She has been very interested in a show on TV called Crikey It's the Irwins that is about wildlife and animal rescue so she was excited that her story was about a Wombat Rescue.  She is working on subtraction in math.

Lily started division but was very frustrated and declared in tears one day that her head is just not made for math.  She does struggle with it poor baby bit is so good at so many things.  She did 3 days in her Reading Eggs book and has started The One and Only Ivan in Lightning Literatyre.

Christian and Anthony completed 3 lessons in math.  They started King Arthur and Knights of the Round Table in Memoria Press Literature.  In AAR Level 7 they started lesson 5.

Other Activities this Week:

Monday the girls had gymnastics.

Wednesday we were back to Kid's Club, Children's Choir and youth.

  1. I'm sorry to read about your migraine and stress. I will remember you extra in my prayers! Those Christmas pictures with your bright-eyed grandbabies and happy family are sweet treasures. Even with a birthday and sick day this week, you did so very much! I hope you give yourself credit for that. {{{hugs}}}
